Question: I need help finding clothes that fit me. (plus-sized fashion tips)?

I'm 17 and over weight. Before, I never really cared about clothes. I cared about how I looked, but never the clothes themselves. I usually just wore baggy pants, and over sized Tshirts. But in the past year or so, I've been paying attention to how my body actually looks in clothes. Buying things that make me look thinner. Though, my style has improved....the clothes are basically all the same, just different colors. I want to have some variety in my wardrobe now that I am moving out and into the dorms at the college. So Tips would be great. A little about mysefl: ~I'm 5 foot 7 inches. ~a little over 200lbs ~My legs are a bit slim, compaired to my torso. ~Larger than average breast size... Jeans are my big problem. Usually, I find jeans that fit well on my legs and thighs, but they are usually way to small in my hips and waist. When I get pants that fit well in my hips and waist, they are extreamly baggy and long in the leg. TIPS ARE LOVED! <3 I shop at Lane byrant and Torrid occasionally. But they are so expensive for me. I can't afford to pay $40 for a pair of jeans. So I was hoping for cheap alternatives?

A decent bra is a must as it raises them and gives you better figure. stay away rom full neck lines eg polar necks or turtle necks, go for v neck and round neck tops, this helps draw the attention away from your bust. wear clothes you feel comfortable in. you cant strut your stuff in something your not comfortable in. never wear stripes going across the body and stay clear from large patterns. please bear in mind you are only 17 and that your body has not completed growing, so dont get to worried im sure your body will sort it self out sooner or later. have you ever thought you might b in a half size ? as i was in a half size and made the choice to loose some weight to help my clothes fit better. i really hope this helps you as i was once in your shoes and know how much it can get you down

They have a lot of plus size clothings at the mall. A store called Torrid. I don't know where you live and if they might have it there. Check it out though. = )

Well, sicne you are larger, darker colors create a slimming effect. Many retailers like Lane Bryant and Torrid have cute, trendy plus-sized fashion that is not expensive. EDIT: Lane Bryant is having a big clearance sale right now, and their jeans are like 15 dollars.

I'm not plus sized, but I have the same problem. I have wide hips and butt, and usually pants won't fit my hips and butt but will fit my legs fine. If they fit my hips and butt, they're huge everywhere else..... and SUPER LONG. I've started taking my pants to a tailor. That's the only way that works for me.

For fab plus sized clothing go to torrid they are great for finding jeans that fit lengthwise and widthwise happy shopping!

If you want, since you love fashion and care about how you look. Try making your own clothes. That way, you can have what looks good on you and what you feel comfortable in. Plus, you can have a little it more variety. Play it up, Make it cool, be you! Most of all, have fun. Also, making your clothes is a fun way to stay busy!

I know exactly what you mean. i have nice toned legs and a poochy stomach because of a recent pregnancy (though i was already overweight before the pregnancy too). so far, the best fit of jeans i have found are from JC Penney. they still aren't exactly what i would like, but they are better than everything else i've tried. good luck!

We are in the same position and I find that I find the best Jeans at Lane bryant , Ashley stewart.or even Old Navy..Also when there too long by some stitchery witchery...it may be under another name so check a pic out on the net first but buy the stichery witchery and cut the jean to the desired legthn and Iron a hem to the bottum the stitchery witxhery will keep it closed and the iron on line gives it the same look as the bottom of jeans ...I do this b/ c I don't have the money alll the time to get my jeans tailored. There is a store called deb. It has clothes for plus sized girls. I am younger and i am bigger then the avrage 6th grader. It is hard to find clothes. I would recommend wearing Baby doll tees. They flair out in the stomach area so they hid your stomach. If I was you I would also get a push up bra

Ok i totally think you can look hot. I mean i know people think that skinny is the only way to be sexy... totally not true some of the most beautiful women i have seen are plus size women. First i would say you can buy jeans that fit right in the waist and a little baggy in the legs then get them altered. Also shirts that have a low neckline and show some clevage is a must it shows some femininity. Don't try and cover up who you are Baby doll tops with great neckline is what i would recommend. Also try GAP i love them i used to be a 10 now i am a 4 and that is still where i shop. Be confident in yourself. Anyone who is confident can pull off any outfit!!!
